The Festival of Museums’ Programme for Children

“Children’s Days in St Petersburg”

The annual Festival organized by the St Petersburg Centre for Museum Development in co-operation with the Committee for Culture of the St Petersburg Government for the first time took place in St Petersburg in September, 2005.


Programme for Children and their Parents

20 museums of St Petersburg are united for two weeks with great programme for children and their parents, including a museum city quest with self-guided tours, workshops for children, interactive exhibitions and festivities.


Professional Programme

Over 300 museum curators, educators and project managers from all over Russia got together to explore the best examples of educational and social outreach projects that had been launched in the museum sector within the last few years. Foreign colleagues, as well as invited museum experts from the USA, the United Kingdom, Finland and Germany

took part in the professional programme of the Festival.

One of the main goals of the Festival is to share professional experience in sphere of museum education and activity programmes. It is intended to provide museum professionals with modern techniques, instruments and means through promoting standards of excellence, to improve sustainability of museums, to inspire the museum community and to encourage new ideas, cooperation and joint schemes, and to widen museum audiences through more imaginative and creative projects.

The Festival’s programme includes presentations by the most advanced St Petersburg museums, a competition of the museum projects, master-classes and round tables organized by Russian and foreign invited guests to develop innovative and creative ideas for children’s museum education.
